City of Roses

I’m in the City of Roses for a couple of weeks pet sitting two little Italian Greyhounds.  My first couple of days were pretty scary.  Luna, my special little girl who wears prosthetics, got very ill.  She apparently ate some sharp gravel the night before I arrived so on my first two days she was in such terrible pain and finally just collapsed from pure exhaustion.  I’m so glad to say that she’s a real trooper and pulled through just fine and is now just as much of a spitfire as ever!

Reilly is the other Iggy.  He just recently had some teeth pulled so is on a soft diet.  He usually waits every day for the mailman to come and drop the mail into the slot along with a couple of milkbones.  Mom & dad stopped the mail while they’re gone to make it easier on Reilly and left me with some soft treats.  He’s a very old guy and was a rescue with teeth issues as most Italian Greyhound rescues are.  So now he only has a couple of teeth left so when he sleeps his tongue hangs out.  I think it’s so adorable!  Just look at his face, is he the cutest little old man you’ve ever seen?  I love them both so much!

While I’m here I always go to Lloyd Center.  When I was a kid my dad worked on the Great Northern Railroad and we got free passes so my sisters and I frequently rode the train down to Portland from Wenatchee to visit our Aunt and cousins.  One of the special things we did was going to Lloyd Center.  Of course back then there weren’t many big malls like this one.  And it had an ice skating rink!  How cool is that!  I still like going there.  I guess sometimes we never grow out of enjoying some things.  I don’t go ice skating any more though, but I do enjoy watching the others skate.

Pet Insurance Infographic

By now you know that my daughter works for pet insurance company Trupanion. Well, her team helped develop this great infographic that explains all the ins and outs of pet insurance for people who may not know much about it. I thought I’d share it with all of you.

Rain, rain, rain

Wow, this week in Snohomish has really been a wet one.  When I arrived there was a skiff of snow on the ground but since then it’s been rain, rain, and more rain.  Although I haven’t been able to get out much and enjoy the outdoors, I’ve been comforted by lots of snuggling with Calla and Brody who are without a doubt the best snugglers in the world!

Spring is here…almost!

I’ve been watching two precious little Iggys and a Shiz Tsu in the Seattle area this week.  This is one of my favorite places to pet sit, not only because I absolutely LOVE these little pups, but because I love the area.  Everything is within walking distance of the house.  Restaurants, grocery stores (including Whole Foods), little shops, bars, you name it.  I often think I could retire in this area.  I guess time will tell.

While taking our walks, between the rain, cold and wind, I’ve noticed that there are finally signs of spring!

The crocus’s are coming up!

 And the trees are blooming!

I don’t know about you but it’s a very welcome sight to me.  I am so ready for nice weather again!  I can’t wait until Easter at my sister’s house in Wenatchee.  All her tulips will surely be up and the apricot tree should be in bloom, and the kids will be running around the back yard looking for Easter eggs.  Aah, just thinking about it warms me up!

A visit from Great Aunts Kathy and Bonnie

I’ve been staying at my daughters again watching my grandson LJ while his mommy and daddy are working and I’m not pet sitting.  It’s been so much fun spending time with my sweet little boy.

We’ve had fun bundling up and taking walks around the neighborhood.

He loves looking at himself in his “Jungle Gym” now that he can sit up like a big boy!

He turned 6 months old this week and had his picture taken with Steve the bear.

He LOVES playing his piano (he’s so talented) 🙂

He’s really starting to enjoy tummy time.  It won’t be long until he’s crawling all over the place.

He had his first carrots this week and couldn’t eat them fast enough.  Mommy is making his baby food with organic vegetables.  I’m so proud of her for taking the time to start LJ out with such good food in such busy times.

Ava and Jackson keep a close eye on things while laying by the fire.

And this week-end we had a really special treat.  Great Aunts Kathy and Bonnie came to visit.

They oohed and aahed over him all day and he loved to listen to all of us visiting.   He gave them lots of smiles and talked back in his sweet little baby voice.  It was such a great week-end.  It’s alway so nice to see my sisters.  It seems like I’m in Wenatchee less and less so I cherish the times we have together.

My time here is quickly coming to an end and I’ll be back to pet sitting so I’m enjoying every day I get to share with my daughter, her husband and their sweet little boy.
